New York Dolls-the group added heavy female makeup and stacked heels to their offerings of songs about sex and drugs, but they were much more lighthearted in character.Their music was uncomfortably (and deliberately) pounding, sloppy, and repetitious and their stage antics, which included sticking pins and broken glass in themselves and slapping members of the audience, were disgusting enough to have most of their American concert appearances canceled NEW WAVE Devo-The visual component of the band reflected this view with robotic movements, space-age costumes, and an obsession with mechanized music realized with synthesizers "Whip It" Iggy Pop Talking Heads, which tapped into geeky intellectualism as did Devo.
